This window is asking you whether you want to create a sitea as a single user or as a shared project. We will choose to work as a single user.
Once you select single user and click next, this window will pop up:
This window is asking whether you want to create a new site, with entirely new folders and files, or if you want to import folders and files from an existing site. We want to start from scratch, so we will click on the Blank Site button and click Next.
You will then be prompted to give your new site a name. Type your site name in the space provided. Your site name can be whatever you would like it to be, however it is nice if it is relevant to what your site is about.
Next you muct chooose the location of where you want your folders and files to be saved. A location is provided for you, so you can simply press Finish if you like, or you may change to a different location.
[edit] Setting the Site Foundation
To open your new site, go to File>New Site. This will start a Wizard that will walk you through the steps to create your site.
The first step is to select a Single User site and click Next. This is what most people will be working in most of the time.
The next site will ask you whether you wante to create a new site, with entirely new folders and files, or if you want to import folders and files from an existing site.
We want to start from scratch, so we will click the Blank Site button and click Next.
The next step is to give the site a name. Simply fill out something that makes sense to you.
The final step is to select a location to save your site files. You can select a location by clicking the Browse button. Once you have selected your location click Finish.
The folder that you choose for your web site should be where everything that you want on your site ends up.
Once you click finish a site window should open, this window shows you the file structure of you web site.
You will notice that a file labeled index.html appears in the site structure. This file is your home page for your site. All of the rest of your pages will link off of this page.
[edit] Basic Web Site Concepts
Building a web site isn't difficult, but it can be difficult if you don't take some time to prepare your file structure. A web site is simply a folder that is available on the web for others to view. By organizing the folder before you put it on the web you will save yourself a lot of grief in the future as you update your pages and add content.
One thing that I have found helpful when creating sites is to create a folder structure that holds certain things. For example every website I create has at least two folders one called images and another called pages. This way any content that I am using I place or save in these folders. So if later on I am looking for an image I know that all I have to do is look in the image folder. I also create a folder called content for anything that I can't decide on where to put it. Once I have created this folder structure my

This Site Box is used to access files, folders, images, and objects that you may want to include in your site.
The page named index.html is your homepage. You do not want to change the name of this file.
THe first thing we want to do when we see this window is to create some folders to place our files, objects, or images in. We can create three separate folders for each, whic is a very simple task. To create a new folder go to the top left corner of the page. You will see a folder icon, that once clicked, automatically drops a new folder into your Site Box.
YOu will want to rename this folder to something that correlates to the objects being placed in it. For example, if you are creating a folder to put all your pictures and clipart in, you might name that folder Images. Once you create all the folders you need, you will want to add new pages, for each webpage you will want in your site. For example, if I am doing a website about myself, I might want to include separate pages for my hobbies, my family, and my career.
To add a new web page, go to Window>Onjects. You will see this toolbar (1) open along side of your site. This toolbar is where most of your options for your website can be located. Hver your mouse over each icon to get a description of what it is.
To create a new webpage for your site you will want to be in Site Items. Once you are there, you will see this toolbar (2). Grab the Generic Page icon and physically drag it into your Site Box.
This will drop a new page in your Site Box. As you did with your folder, you will want to rename this page so it relates to the information that will be displayed.
[edit] Modifying Your Page
To begin creating your website, with images and color, you smply double click on the title of that page within your Site Box. Once that page opens you can change the background color, and begin adding text and images.
The first thing we want to do is add a background color or image to your site, unless of course you want it to remain white. To change your background color, you will want to go to page properties located at the right top corner of your screen.
This box will appear, allowing you to title your page, change your background color, and even change the color of your links.
To change the background color go to Background in the middle of the box. You will see a box next to the word Color. Click this box, and then right click the colored square next to it. Now you can choose the color that you would like your background.
To insert an image as your page background, you first need to make sure you have that image saved in your image folder, located in your Site Box. When you do, go to the background section, and select the Image box. Then click the small folder icon to the right of that. you will then be able to select the file of your image.
[edit] Adding Text and Tables
To add text to your webpage, you can simply place your cursor where you would like the text to begin and start typing. You can also type within a table. To insert a table, go to the Objects Toolbar (make sure you are in basic mode). To insert a table into your webpage, click the table icon and drag it onto your page. A table will apear on your page, but you will need to adjust the number of columns and rows. To do this, go to the Inspector Tool Box. Here you can adjust the number of rows, and columns, as well as the width and height of your cells.
You can also adjust the table border, and the color, as well as the style of the text within the table.
Here is an example of how your page might look with a table inserted.
[edit] Inserting Pictures
Before you can insert a picture, you first need to make sure the picture file is save in your Image Folder. Go to the Object Toolbar, in basic mode, and drag the image on to your webpage. Once you drag the icon onto your page, go to the Inspector Toolbox. Click the folder icon and select your image file. The image will then be imported into your site.
[edit] Adding Links
There are many ways that you can work with links in GoLive. One way is to add a link to an outside webpage. To do this you can have your text or image act as a link. Simply select or hightlight your text/image, and then go to the Inspector Toolbox.
Click the Link tab at the top of the box.
Click the small chain icon and then type or copy paste the URL of the site that you want the link to direct people to. You then want to make sure you select a target for your link. Do that in the Target Box and click the link icon. you will see a small @ sign that you will want to click. This acts as a fetch tool. You can simpy drag your mouse to the page that you want to link to and you are all set. To get to the page, just go to your Site Box and drag the fetch tool to the pageg you would like.
