[edit] In Windows XP

Once in a while you may download a folder that is zipped or compressed and you will need to extract the contents of the folder to use them. In Windows XP this is very easy. Once you have downloaded the zipped folder you will see an icon that looks like this.

Now to extract the information from this folder you will simply want to right click on the folder and select Extract All...
This will open a Wizard that will walk you through the process of extract the files in the zipped folder
.
By clicking Next you will begin the wizard. The first step is to tell the wizard where you want the files to be extracted. By default it is set to extract the files in the same location as the zipped folder. You can browse for a custom location if you need to.

Once you have a location establish for where you want you files to end up simply click Next. You will see the progress of the extraction. Once it is done you can quickly jump to the folder where the files are located by making sure that the show extracted files box is checked and then simply clicking on the Next button.
