Defining actions
At times there are actions that you repeat as you deal with a set of images. Perhaps you want to change the file type from a JPG to PDF for a hundred pictures. To do this in Photoshop 7 you would have had to open each picture and select File>Save As. Now you can automate the task. To do this go to Window>Actions to view the action menu . This menu will let you create a set of actions that you can use over and over again. To create your own action select the new action button. You will be brought to a menu that asks you to give the action a name, whether you want a function key to be a shortcut to the action (I would not suggest this unless you are going to use this function a lot), and you can also give the action a color. Once you have done this go ahead and click Record. Now you can start doing the function, for example going to file save as etc. Once you have finished the set of steps for your action click the stop button. This will stop your action. Now if you select play Photoshop will automatically take your image that is selected through the different steps in your action. You can also have only part of the action play by clicking on the triangle to the left of the action and select a specific step
Photo merge
This is to take a series of smaller photos and convert them into one larger picture. You can do this to create panoramic photos without having to match the pictures yourself.

PDF Presentation
This allows you to create a slide show or multi-page document with your images. When you select this function you will see a menu that looks like this . By clicking Browse you will be able to locate the files that you would like. Then you can select the different options for you finished product, such as transitions and looping.
